The Austin Area Women’s Golf Association (AAWGA) is one of the oldest Women’s Golf Associations in Texas. In 1947, forty charter members gathered from the two women’s golf organizations that had been in operation for several years. They were members of the Austin Women’s Public Links Golf Association (Lions Municipal Golf Course) and the Country Club Ladies Golf Association (Austin Country Club). They completed the groundwork for the organization of the Austin Women’s Golf Association (AWGA) and held competitions rotating between courses. AWGA was renamed to the Austin Area Women’s Golf Association in 2012.
MISSION STATEMENT
+ To provide an opportunity for all eligible women golfers in the Austin Area to participate in Inter-Club Competition
+ To promote fellowship and camaraderie among women golfers in the AAWGA’s membership
+ To stage a 2-day Eclectic Tournament and the annual AAWGA Championship Tournament, as well as oversee monthly play

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
AAWGA Tournaments/Play Days are flighted by handicap. Each player must have a handicap index through GHIN or their club. The maximum playing handicap for any event is 36. Tournaments/Play Days will have gross and net winners in each flight. Any AAWGA member wanting to compete in the AAWGA Championship must have posted at least 3 rounds to GHIN in the year they wish to compete. Players also must play a minimum of one (1) AAWGA event between March-August of the Championship year.
There is an Inner-Club Competition (ICC) throughout the year. The lowest 2 Gross & lowest 2 Net scores from each event are collected and totaled at the end of the year. The team with the lowest total for Gross and Net win our Inner-Club Competition for the year and get their name added to a plaque.
